When you log into your account and hit the "Create a Survey" button, the first page that comes up is the "Step 1 - Survey Design" page. Here you specify the title of the survey and formatting information (images, fonts, colors, etc.)
"Step 2 - Questions and LOGIQ" is where you actually set up the questionaire itself. You will use the "Question Editor" to add and edit the questions on your survey. Step 2 is also where you set up "skip logic, or LOGIQ™" for the questions.
In "Step 3 - Privacy and Security" you can choose whether to run the survey as Anonymous or as a Secure survey. SuperSurvey's Anonymous feature will strip out any identifying information such as email addresses or IP addresses that our system might otherwise collect. The Secure survey feature will run the survey under SSL encryption.
In Step 4 - "Password and Keys", you can decide whether you wish to use any of our key-based access control features. These include Single keys to prevent authorized, and both Auto Generated and User Specified unique keys that allow you to match up individual respondents to there responses.
Finally, in Step 5 you can activate the survey and send out invitations.
From Survey Design, some of your options include:
After you've specified the appearance details, you can Preview the general look. Then it's time to Save and move on to Questions & LOGIQ.

You can set font, color, and size information for all text that appears as part of your survey. This helps you to brand your surveys and keep your user experience consistent.

You should enter the URL of the image to include like this:
http://www.mysite.cxm/images/mylogo.jpg
(Please remember you are bound by the User Agreement to take responsibility for any images or other information you include.)
One important issue currently surrounds images included in Securesurveys. If you are running a survey with Supersurvey's "Security" option enabled, any images included in the survey must also be on a secure server. (The URL will besin with "https" instead of just "http".) If this isn't the case, many browsers will present a error message while displaying those pages. If you need secure hosting for survey images, please contact us at service@supersurvey.com.

The heart of your survey is in the Questions and LOGIQ page. At its core is a page-based model for laying out questions. First, you define questions, then put them on one or more pages, and finally add logical skip conditions, if necessary. You can follow this simple procedure to add questions to your survey:
Checkboxes for advanced features that we recommend be put into place are pre-checked.
A brief description of some of the advanced features is below. Remember, you can always preview a question to see the effect of the changes.
Merely select "add from QuestionBank™" within the Questions & LOGIQ Editor, and a small window will appear listing your surveys.
For each survey, a list of its questions appears (for the current survey, only those questions that are not assigned to a page [for example, orphan questions from a deleted page] will appear. Select the question you want and it will be added to your current survey at the position at which you selected "add from QuestionBank™".

Because of the importance of saving your work, we have taken a number of measures to make this easy to do. You can always save your work in Survey Editor by clicking the "Save Changes" button at the bottom of the each page. When navigating between pages in Survey Editor, you are prompted to save your work as well. Finally, we have a time-based auto-save prompt which prompts you to save changes at a set interval.

By default, each survey flows to the next page. However, to permit complex LOGIQ routes, you may change the default next page. Use this in conjunction with question-based LOGIQ conditions for setting up complex skip logic.
For more on LOGIQ, see the entry in our Methodological FAQ here.

Your survey will be priced at the package level corresponding to your feature usage. You can always check on feature use and package status from the "Details" link in My Surveys, or on the first page of survey activation. To see which features are part of which package, please refer to our current specifications sheet.

You must be logged-in as the owner of a survey in order to view the preview. If you need the ability to have colleagues, clients, or managers see your survey Preview without having them log into your account, use the PreviewShare option from My Surveys.
Top
When PreviewShare is enabled for a given survey, a URL is provided that you can give to your colleagues permitting them to view previews. This link will work whether or not the survey is active, and it will work just like the ordinary Preview (results not stored). Your colleagues need not be logged in, and will not have access to any other part of your account.
Your colleagues must have cookies enabled in order to use PreviewShare. If, at any point, you wish to disable PreviewShare for a given survey, the link will no longer permit access.

Anonymous surveys have a header and footer describing our Privacy Protocol and a "Click to Verify" seal, (like a VeriSign click to verify seal.)
Please Note - if you use our Auto-Generated Keys feature in conjunction with an Anonymous survey you cannot get the respondent's email address back with the results.

Once you are satisfied with how it looks, click "Save and Continue" at the bottom of the page to go on to "Step 2 - Questions & LOGIQ". This is where you actually set up the survey questionnaire itself. Use the editor to add and remove pages and questions to the survey where you wish them to appear.
To add a page, click "Add Page".
To add a new question, click "new question". This will bring up the "Question Editor". Here you choose the type of question you want (multiple choice, open answer, or matrix) and type in the question and answer choices. There is a "Preview Question" button at the bottom so you can see if it show up properly. Once you are satisfied with the question you can hit "Save" to place the question into the survey.
Step 2 is also where you can set up "skip patterns" for the questions. You can set up conditions such as "If a respondent answers 'yes' to this question, send them to page 3; if they answer 'no', send them to page 4". This capability is referred to as LOGIQ in the SuperSurvey system. Each page will "skip to" the next page in the order created, by default. If you wish to change the logical flow of the survey, you can set the Default Next Page for a given page, or you can put a LOGIQ Condition into place based upon the answer to a question by clicking the "default" link by the answer.
If you delete a page or a question, the deleted questions go into the QuestionBank. (Examine your "skip to" conditions carefully after deleting pages.) If you want to use a question from this survey's QuestionBank, or if you want to import a question from another survey you own, choose "add from QuestionBank."
Only five pages of the survey will be shown in the editor at one time. If you have more than five pages in your survey, you will need to choose which interval of five pages to work on at a given time.
Once your survey has been entered you should hit the "Preview Survey" button and go through the survey yourself. Check the spelling, etc. and make sure everything appears how you want it to. When you are done you can hit "Save and Continue" to go on to "Step 3 - Privacy and Security"
SuperSurvey's Secure survey feature, will run the survey under SSL encryption. The Anonymous feature is used when you want SuperSurvey to stand in as a trusted third party and strip out any identifying information such as email addresses or IP addresses that our system might otherwise collect. (Please note that these are both premium features)
In Step 5 - "Password & Keys" You can decide whether you wish to have a password (key) required for access to your survey. You can choose between no password, a single key, or unique keys for each respondent. (See the section on keys for more on this.) At the bottom of this page, you may customize the prompt that asks the survey taker for their key. (This is NOT where you set a key to the survey! What you enter here is used publicly as the prompt - the key is specified after you activate the survey.)
Finally, in Step 6 you can activate the survey. You should wait until you are ready to start the survey to do this step, because this is when the billing starts. You will be asked how long you want the survey to run, and to confirm that you want it activated. Surveys can either be activated on an individual basis or as part of a subscription package. Payment is by credit card.
Once the survey is active you will be taken to the "Distribution Manager". There are a couple of things you should do at the beginning. First, if you are using a single key you will need to set it. To do so go to "Set or Change Single Key". Second, you will want to distribute invitations to the survey.
To invite people to take your survey, choose "Compose Invitation Emails". This will bring up a webmail interface (similar to Hotmail or other online mail). You can just paste the addresses you wish to invite into the "To" field (separated by commas or new lines), edit the message and click "Send Invitations".
As soon as the first response comes in to your survey, you can view the results online, in real time. You can view the full data or an online summary report, which will show "50% said A, 25% said B, etc." You can also create bar charts and pie charts for the summarized data and can filter the data online based on the answers to specific questions, (e.g. "Show responses where the respondent said 'my favorite color is blue.'")
For further analysis you can download the results in CSV (comma separated values) format, which will open up in Excel, Access, or most other database and spreadsheet applications.
