Introduction My name is Craig McWilliams and I am a post-graduate student studying Advanced Architectural Design at the University of Strathclyde (Architecture department). What is the purpose of this research? The core aim of this research is to investigate the effect that the architectural design of workplaces has on autistic users. The investigation looks to highlight what the greatest challenges experienced by autistic users in workspaces are and what can be done to address these challenges through the design of our buildings. Do you have to take part? Participation in this investigation is entirely voluntary. Should you wish to be withdrawn from the investigation at any point then all data pertaining to your involvement will be destroyed and removed from the investigation. What will you do in the project? As part of a wider investigation, you will be asked to complete a short online survey. Why have you been invited to take part? You have been invited to take part in this investigation as you have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) \/ Asperger’s Syndrome. This investigation has a focus on giving autistic people a platform through which they can voice their concerns and needs with regards to improving the design of our buildings for the future. What information is being collected in the project? No identifiable information will be collected at any point. Only the answers you provide to the questions will be collected and these will remain anonymous throughout. Who will have access to the information? Only I as the investigator will have access to the answers provided by you throughout the survey until these answers are published within the final report. Again, all answers will be anonymous throughout. Where will the information be stored and how long will it be kept for?
